The Ethiopian Government is currently implementing food security, poverty reduction and other development programs that contribute to the socio-economic development of Konso community.


SOS Sahel is a national based NGO originally from UK with over 20 years of experience in working with rural communities and the Ethiopian government to tackle poverty. SOS Sahel Ethiopia is dedicated to improve the living standards of smallholder farmers and marginalized pastoralists through better management of their environment and improved access to fair and sustainable agricultural markets. SOS Sahel Ethiopia aims to eliminate food insecurity and to ensure environmental sustainability.

Our Konso women training in moringa Stenopetala leaf powder process run by this entity are stablished on our common shared value chain development principles. Derese Kochana leads the trainings focusing on this marginalized segment of the population, better management of the environment and facilitating access to markets.



Konso Development Association (KDA) is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit non-governmental organisation established in 1993 to undertake development activities in order to fill the gaps of the community by mobilising local resources primarily. KDA is mainly involved in rural development projects focusing on improving live hood base of the poorest households, natural resource management, education, health, HIV/AIDS, family planning and gender sensitization. The prevailing development constraints are in the meantime supported by external entities that are crucial factor to respond to the demands of the community.
Our agreement signed with KDA positions us on the same sustainable socio-economic foundation targeting Konso people self-sufficiency and governed and guided by transparency, accountability, integrity, impartiality, fairness, respect to people and participation. We bring an economical progress to Konso community. You are also a development actor with your 1% of the benefits contribution with KDA objectives.
